We have been fortunate enough to be able to attend 4 of the 5 festivals. The event started up in 2005 and we caught wind of it after the first party was over. In 2006 we made plans to attend and secured both a campsite and a hotel room because we didn't know what to expect. We arrived at sunset the first night and were invited to set up our tent with some people we had just met. Little did we know that site sharing was not allowed and soon after that the security force was looking for us to remove our stuff and move it to an open camping area. We complied and found a nice little spot under the trees and set up camp. We used the tent during the day between shows and stayed at the hotel at night. It worked out great for us as we didn't bring everything we needed to "survive" in the woods.
Lineup 2006:
ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND, GOVT. MULE, DEREK TRUCKS BAND, OTEIL & THE PEACEMAKERS, JACK PEARSON, THE WAILERS, O.A.R., RAILROAD EARTH, DUMPSTAPHUNK, THE LEE BOYS, MEDESKI MARTIN & WOOD, JOHN POPPER, DIRTY DOZEN BRASS BAND, NEW MONSOON, NORTH MISS ALL STARS, HONEYTRIBE
Here are a couple of quick videos I shot with our cheap digital camera.
The next year we were more prepared and my sister Beth tagged along for the party. No hotel this year - we were roughing it at all costs. We brought enough stuff to "survive" comfortably and had a great time from early morning to the wee hours of the night. There was no wanting for anything other than maybe a little heat at night. Derek Trucks stopped by the campsite and spent some time talking to Beth. I think I have a picture of it somewhere and will post it if found. On Saturday night (right after Derek Trucks closed a little after 2 A.M.) a massive storm blew through the area. High winds and heavy rain managed to cause damage to many campers and some were left without a place to sleep. Our friend Mike was set up in the same open site and he managed to take on a lake full of water in his tent. The next day we drove around to see the damage and there were tents up in trees, demolished campsites and the whole Peach Stage area was under water. Luckily this all happened after the DTB closed the show for the weekend.
Lineup 2007:

2008 was a new adventure for us in a camper. I decided that Christine deserved a step up in roughing it and bought a Coleman pop-up camper that sleeps 10. With Queen size beds at either end, the stove, refrigerator, dining table, running water, toilet, A/C, TV, porch - what more could you want. Well - she said that she actually likes the tent life better than the camper. Understandable since we weren't there to live in luxury but to be one with nature and enjoy the people and music. It had it advantages and there certainly are trade offs so we'll se what the future fests bring for us.

2009 got announced on February 26th and it looks like a great line up. No Grateful Dead as rumored but it will still be a great fest. More to follow as things evolve. Since the fest will be in the hot month of June, I opt to take the camper which has the a/c. We'll see.
3/9/09 - tickets were purchased today and we are ready to load up and go. Is it June yet?
3/13 - Site has been reserved in horse camping area also. Now is it June?
June 7th- The 09' fest was the best yet. We met about 30 friends there and had a non-stop party. It rained for a large chunk of the time but it didn't matter. The vibe and social time made us forget about the rain. We did stay in the camper this year and it is a good thing we did. Too many stories to tell here and I all I can say is - we look forward to the 2010 event.

The 2010 waneefest season is off to a great start excluding the tease of releasing the line-up. When it was finally released at 8:55 A.M. on January 15th, the forum went crazy with excitement. We bought our early-bird tickets when they went on sale and secured our same campsite from last year in anticipation of nothing but the best line-up ever. The Live Nation folks did another excellent job.
